Bluegill FAQ
Why does Bluegill only accept images and gifs?
We want to save space. GIFs are uploaded exactly as you upload them, while regular images are transformed to WEBP. This saves space for us, as well as people viewing your files since your files will be smaller.
Why can't I directly view my images?
Since we only take images, we also only allow the files to be viewed when embedded using an HTML <img> tag (aka just in a webpage). Images won't be visible through their direct link.
What file restrictions does Bluegill have?
All files must be under 16 MB, while GIFs must be under 4 MB because GIF is such a bad format. Every raster image file type is accepted (i.e. no svg).
What information does Bluegill store?
All EXIF data is stripped from images during conversion. Bluegill only stores the IP address of the uploader of images for security reasons.
How do you handle DMCA requests?
Files will be promptly removed if we receive a fair DMCA request. Bogus requests will be ignored.
Is Bluegill open source?
No. Sorry.
